It’s just 43 days until the ICD-10 transition on October 1st, 2015. Our schedule is filling up as this deadline rapidly approaches. Purchase your upgrade and schedule your preinstall by August 28th in order to guarantee that you will be upgraded and trained by October 1st. Just to be absolutely clear, WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE AN INSTALLATION DATE BEFORE OCTOBER 1ST IF YOU PURCHASE AFTER AUGUST 28TH.
We’ve compiled some information to help ease the transition:
Tip 1: Clarification on CMS saying it won’t “deny claims for the 1st year as long as the ICD-10 code is in the right family”.
CMS has recently gotten specific by defining exactly what a family of ICD-10 codes is: A family code is the first 3 characters of the code. For example Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the family C81, with 4 different codes:
For one year, CMS won’t deny a claim that has the wrong member as long as the family is correct and a valid code was used. You will not be able to code every Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis as ‘C81’, since that isn’t a valid code. You could theoretically code everything as C81.00 (or any of the other family members) for the first year.
Tip 2: Why to use the correct code anyway:
Currently, Lytec, Medisoft, and Practice Parter do not officially support Windows 10 and thus you should NOT use Windows 10 until Mckesson and PSS have had the opportunity to fully test it out with the Lytec, Practice Partner and Medisoft products.
